The photos on this site are meant to speak for themselves, so there is little information or description given in the portfolio section. But, I anticipate you may have some questions about the techniques used so here is some information about them.
Nature Photos - Technique used
All of the nature photos are as they came from the camera in that no techniques were used that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping. The birds, animals and wildlife were all living free and unrestrained in a natural or adopted habitat when the photo was taken. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph so as to be close to what was seen at the time the photo was taken was done. It is commonly known as post processing. This was done without changing content of the original scene, and may include dodging/burning, sharpness, clarity, etc. similar to what would be done in a traditional darkroom for film prints. Elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, were repaired.
So, why post process at all? Well most cell phone and point & shoot cameras automatically post process photos and deliver to you a completed JPG photo. It automatically decides what it needs to do to render the photo as seen. DSLR's will also do automatic processing if you wish, but one of the advantages of DSLR's is that they will provide a RAW digital format photo and then the photographer does the post processing to represent exactly, or at least closer to, what was seen. I'd rather not let the camera decide what I saw so I choose to shoot digital RAW format photos and then post process myself instead of letting the camera do it.
Scenics, Panoramas, HDR, Techniques used
Most of the scenics and non nature photos were generally enhanced for presentation (clarity, contrast sharpness, etc) but some alterations may be included to improve the scene. But no composite photos are on this site. No mixing of different backgrounds, clouds, etc were done.
HDR - A few of the photos are HDR enhanced for artistic expression but do not alter the scene or story of the photo. Some panoramic photos are several photos stitched together to provide a wider more detailed vision than the single frame of the camera lens could capture.
Airshow photos
All photos were taken and are presented as they occurred. Only routine post processing was done. HDR processing is used on some photos and minor corrections are made.
